TRANSPORT TO COCKATOO ISLAND

Cockatoo Island will be open to film-goers and to general visitors during the Cockatoo Island Film Festival.

Cockatoo Island Festival Ferry (24 - 28 October 2012)

The Harbour Trust will provide special Festival Ferries to transport film-goers and visitors to and from Cockatoo Island from Wednesday 24th through to Sunday 28th October 2012, inclusive.

(Note: A special ferry will operate on the morning of Monday 29th October to transport campers back to Darling Harbour)

Cockatoo Island Festival Ferries will be operated by private ferry companies.  For information about Festival Ferry tickets click here.

The regular Sydney Ferries public ferry service will not stop at Cockatoo Island during the Film Festival (24-28 October 2012).  You will need to catch a Cockatoo Island Festival Ferry instead. 

Sydney Ferries tickets will not be valid for travel to/from Cockatoo Island during the Film Festival. Sydney Ferries’ normal service will resume on Monday 29th October 2012.

Don’t miss the start of your movie! The Film Festival is a major event, so when planning your journey, please allow for waiting time, as delays may be unavoidable during times of peak passenger demand.

Main Route: King St Wharves 1 & 2 (Darling Harbour) - Cockatoo Island

The main Festival Ferry route will operate from King Street Wharves 1 & 2 (Darling Harbour), located at the western end of Erskine Street, Sydney. King Street Wharves are just a 5 minute walk from trains and buses at Wynyard and George St. Festival Ferries will operate every 15-20 minutes to and from Cockatoo Island. 

Local Route: Greenwich, Woolwich and Balmain West - Cockatoo Island

Cockatoo Island - Woolwich - Greenwich - Cockatoo Island - Balmain West (Elliot St) - Cockatoo Island

This local service has limited capacity. Please walk, cycle, or bus to the wharf, or catch the main fastival ferry from King Street.

Early riser? The first service will run each hour, leaving Woolwich 7.55am; Greenwich 8.03am; and Balmain West at 8.25am. 
Night owl?  The last service leaving Cockatoo Island to Balmain West will depart at 12.13am. The last service leaving Cockatoo Island to Greenwich and Woolwich will depart at 12.45am.

Loop service schedule will be as follows:

Woolwich departs 55 minutes past the hour
Greenwich departs 3 minutes past the hour 
Balmain West (Elliot st) departs 25 minutes past the hour 
Cockatoo Island to Balmain West (Elliot st) departs 13 minutes past the hour 
Cockatoo Island to Woolwich and Greenwich departs 45 minutes past the hour
